Alcazaba of Antequera

The Alcazaba is the remains of a Moorish fortress on a hill above Santa Maria Church. Hedged gardens rise up the hill to the remains where there is a 13th Century keep known as the Torre del Homenaje. The Christians captured the fortres in 1410 but, because of its position, did not hold it for long. From the hill are good views of the town, its churches and the plains beyond.
