The Mezquita stands on the top of a hill near the main square. Dating from the 10th Century, it was built on the site of a Roman temple. The building is very well preserved and the mosque`s mihrab is said to be the oldest in Spain. Although it became a church in the 13th Century, the building retains many orignal features such as horseshoe arches, Arabic inscriptons and an ablutions fountain. From the top of the tower you can look down at a 19th Century bullring.
