The atmospheric village of Alquezar is situated on a rocky promontory above the River Vero in the foothills of the Pyrennes. In the old quarter are many narrow alleyways and an arcaded square. There was a Moorish alcazar here which was taken by the king of Aragon. On the site the Colegiata de Santa Maria was built. It has been reconstructed but there is a fine Romanesque cloister with capitals and inside are Baroque works of art.
