The Archaeology Museum is housed in the 16th Century Renaissance Palacio de los Paez, designed by Hernan Ruiz. There are a number of prehistoric objects and a Roman collection of sarcophagi, mosaics, carvings, pottery and glass. Other rooms hold examples of Moorish decorative arts including sculptures, ceramics and a model of the mosque. One of the outstanding items is the 10th Century bronze stag that was found at Medina Azahara.
