The Archdeacon`s House dates from the 12th Century and stands against a Roman wall, which can still be seen. The building was remodelled in the early 16th Century and a colonnade was built. During the late 19th Century a Gothic patio and fountain was added. Domenech i Montaner, a Modernist architect, designed the mailbox that is carved with swallows and a tortoise, symbolising truth and justice. The building is now the home of the city archives.
