Standing on a hill at 483 metres above sea level, Aroche Castle towers over the village. It was built by the Arabs then rebuilt by the Portuguese who took the town. After it was retaken by the Castilians, the fortress was remodelled. The castle has a rectangular shape and during the 19th Century part of the parapets were removed to make a bullring inside the walls.
