The fantastic Palacio Episcopal was designed by the famous Modernista architect Anton Gaudi in 1889 for the incumbent bishop. After the bishop died, there were financial problems and Gaudi resigned. From then on the work proceeded intermittently and the granite building was not finished until the 1960s. The structure is reminiscent of a Neo-gothic castle and there are turrets and a moat. It has four storeys, and in the chapel on the first floor are mosaics and stained glass.
