Barceloneta is the fishing village of Barcelona which is on a piece of land that juts into the sea. It was designed by the architect Juan Martin de Cermeno for the people who had been made homeless by the building of the fortress in what is now the Ciutadella Park. The Church of Sant Miguel de Port stands in the small square where markets are held. The fishing fleet is still based in the nearby docks.
