The Basilica de Santa Maria boasts a splendid, ornamented facade which is the work of Don Alonso de Baena. Built in the early 16th Century, the church is on the site of a former mosque. Inside are Mudejar, Gothic, Plateresque and Baroque features. There is a fine 17th Century golden retablo with Plateresque stonework whilst in the sanctuary you will find a splendid frieze and ceiling.
