Benahavis is a picturesque mountain village situated a few miles from the coast. The winding streets with their spectacular views are best explored on foot. Founded by the Arabs, the village was taken by the Catholic Monarchs in 1485. The ruined Castle of Montemayor is said to have underground passages leading to the coast. Benahavis is known for its excellent restaurants and many golf courses.
