Burgos Cathedral is the third largest cathedral in Spain and is almost entirely Gothic. Built over three centuries, it has many masterpieces. The tympanum of the Puerto del Sarmental showing Christ with the Evangelists displays amazing detail. Inside are many chapels and in the 15th Century Constable Chapel is the tomb of the High Constable of Castile and his wife. Above the transept crossing is a magnificent dome whilst below is the tomb of El Cid. Not to be missed is the Renaissance Golden Staircase by Diego de Siloe.
