The Cabo de Gata Nijar Natural Park is a large, wild coastal area with high cliffs, little coves and small sandy beaches. Offshore are rocky islands with underwater coral reefs. The park has been a designated UNESCO Biosphere reserve since 1997. There are salt marshes where, from a hide, you can see hundreds of flamingos and seasonal visiting birds such as storks and avocets. At the vistor centre is an exhibition and you can obtain information about walks.
