Candelario is a picturesque, mountain village with steep, cobbled streets and stone and wood houses with balconies and unusual, ornate wooden half doors. Beside the streets are streams often full in spring with water flooding down from the mountains as the snow melts. Candelario is a good base for walks to the 7000 feet high mountain peaks of El Calvitero and Canchal Negro.
