The wild, jagged peninsula Cap de Creus is the most eastern point of mainland Spain and here the Pyrennes meets the sea. The headland can be reached by coastal path from Portlligat or by following a narrow road which ends at a lighthouse. A restaurant with a terrace offering stunning views overlooks the cliffs. The headland is a designated nature reserve, to which sea birds migrate in the winter, and where heathland birds nest in spring, when it is carpeted with wild flowers.
