The Capilla de San Ildefonso was built in the early 16th Century as a church for the university. This one naved building has beautiful, mudejar artesonado ceilings and stucco decoration in different styles on the walls. In the presbytery is the Carrara marble tomb of Cardinal Cisneros, carved by Domenica Fancelli and Bartolome Ordonez. However, the cardinal`s actual remains have been laid to rest in the cathedral.
