The Castle of Aracena, now in ruins, stands on a hill dominating the small town of Aracena. From the site are stunning views. Built on the site of a Moorish fortess, the castle dates mainly from the 13th Century. Near the ruins is the Church of Nuestra Senora de los Dolores which has been converted from a mosque. Its minaret was made into a Mudejar tower and the building has Gothic and Renaissance features. The castle and church can be reached from Plaza Alta.
