Cuevas del Almanzora is an agricultural town which derives its name from the many man-made caves in the nearby hills. These were the homes of miners in the early 19th Century who flocked to the area when silver was discovered in the Almagrera Mountains. A tour can be taken of some of the cave dwellings and you can see how the inhabitants lived.
