The Iglesia de Nostra Senora de la Concepcion in the small town of Agaete was built in the Neo-classical style in the late 19th Century. Inside is a 16th century Flemish triptych which is displayed at the Bajada de la Rama fiesta - the festival of the tree branch when pine branches are carried to the sea. Near the church and square is a long bridge spanning a ravine. There was a settlement at Agaete in pre-Hispanic times. The present town was founded in 1515.
