The Eglise de Sainte Maria de la Asuncion stands above the harbour in the old quarter of Castro Urdiales. On the facade of this imposing Gothic building are allegorical animal reliefs whilst inside you can see blue stained glass. Nearby on the headland is a lighthouse that has been converted from a Knights Templar castle. On the other side of the medieval bridge known as Puente Roman are the remains of the Ermitage de Santa Ana.
