The Church of Sant Jaime stands on a hill in the old part of Benidorm. It was built in the neo-classical style in the 17th Century. The church has a blue dome and inside is a chapel containing the statue of the Virgen del Sofragio, the patron saint of Benidorm. According to local legend, the small sculpture was found in a boat adrift far out at sea.
