Algodonales is a white washed village standing high in the Lijar Mountains. In the square, in front of the impressive church, a battle took place in 1810 between the villagers and Napoleon`s troops. The battle is commemorated every year at the beginning of May and the event lasts several days. Algodonales is also a centre for hang gliding and paragliding.
