The Church of Santa Maria stands at the top of the little inland town of Andratx which is surrounded by orange groves. Dating from the 13th Century, the church is built like a fortress to protect it from pirates. From its precincts are magnificent views towards the coast. The town is known for its Wednedsday market when the streets are full of stalls selling local produce, including cheese and vegetables.
