Alcudia is the oldest city in Mallorca, dating from Phoenician times and the Romans built a settlement here. The walls were built in the 14th Century, after the Spanish conquest, and three hundred years later another defensive wall was added to defend the town. Over the centuries they deteriorated, but the walls have now been fully restored. The defensive system includes gateways and over twenty towers.
