The Civil War Shelters Museum is located in galleries that were excavated out of La Concepcion hill to be used as shelters during air raids in the Civil War. They were intended to hold over five thousand people but were still not completed when the war ended. Cartagena was the naval base for part of the Republican fleet and was frequently bombed. At the museum you can discover much about bombers as well as everyday life in Cartagena during the Civil War.
