Cuatro Postes is where Santa Teresa, at the age of seven, was caught by her uncle after running away from home. Already a mystic, she had intended to become a Christian martyr by fighting the Moors. At this place there is an ancient shrine of four columns and a cross, and also panoramic views over Avila. To reach it, pass through the city walls at Puerta del Puente and cross the bridge over the River Adaja, then follow the Salamanca road for about a mile.
