Cantabria has over six thousand caves and several of these can be visited. The El Soplao Cave has unique formations of helictites and is exceptionally beautiful. There are also stalactites, stalagmites and pisolites which are similar to oyster pearls. The visit consists of a short ride on a mining train and a flat walk of less than one mile along a walkway through galleries. Although the visit is suitable for almost everyone, children must be at least six years old.
