Opened in 2001, the modern building of the Museo de Bellas Artes has won several architectural awards. The original museum was founded in 1845. It has a large Valencian Ceramics collection from the 13th Century to the present day, and paintings by Zurburan and Sorolla, as well as sculptures. There is a section devoted to archaeology and ethnology covering art, communications, culture, technology, food and survival. The permanent exhibition rooms are on five levels and there are also temporary exhibition rooms and workshops.
