The Jardin de San Carlos is an attractive park that is located in the old bastion of San Carlos. The fortress was built in 1843. In its centre is the tomb of the Scottish General Sir John Moore. He was killed in the Battle of Elvina on the 16th of January 1809 when the British Army were evacuating the port during the War of Independence.
