This magnificent, unusual fountain dates from the 15th Century when it was commissioned by the daughter of the Count of Prades, Violant de Cabrera. It is decorated with a centrepiece of the arms of the Cabrera family and gargoyles. The fountain has six waterspouts and an octagonal shape. Now close to buildings, the monument in the past was probably in the centre of a square at a time when Carrer Ample was a different size and much grander.
