The Gran Teatre del Liceu is Barcelona`s opera house. Dating from 1847, it was gutted by fire in 1994 and reopened five years later. The auditorium can now seat 2,300 people and the 19th Century stalls have been restored. The opera house now has modern stage equipment and sound technology. The main opera season is staged here but there are also classical music concerts. Guided tours of the opera house are available.
