The Centre of Interpretation of the History of Cartagena is located in the castle on the summit of La Concepcion hill. The original castle was mainly built from materials taken from Roman buildings and it was rebuilt in the 14th Century. Restoration work was carried out in 1994 and here you can learn about Cartagena`s history. A lift now carries visitors up the 150 feet high hill to the castle and centre.
