The Barranco de Guayadeque is an impressive, beautiful, deep ravine and much of it is a nature reserve. Guanche people lived here in caves and some of their burial chamber exhibits are in the museum in Las Palmas. Some people still live in caves but these are modernised homes. The museum is housed in a cave network and it offers an insight into the lives of the Guanche people. Themes covered include mummification. There is also information about the rare plants in the ravine.
