Isla de los Lobos is a small, volcanic island lying two miles from Corralejo. The name comes from the seals that are said to have frequented its shores until they were eaten by a starving French crew. It was once a base for pirates. The entire island is now a nature reserve and there are walking trails. Shearwaters nest here and it is a great place for birdwatching. The island is a popular boat trip from Corralejo.
