Crowning the summit of Montjuic is an 18th Century castle that is now a military museum. An early 17th Century castle previously occupied the site, but Felipe V destroyed it in 1705. The Bourbon family built the present castle, which was captured by the French during the War of Independence. After the Civil War, it was a prison. The fortress now houses a collection of weapons, armour and uniforms from different countries and periods.
