The Benedictine monks of Santo Domingo de Silas are renowned for their Gregorian plainchant. St Dominnic rebuilt the monastery in the 11th Century on the site of an earlier abbey. It has beautiful Romanesque cloisters with capitals sculpted in many different designs. Scenes from the Bible are carved on the corner piers. It is possible to visit the old pharmacy which has a collection of Talavera ceramic jars. The present church was built in the late 18th Century.
