Montjuic is a hill that rises to a height of almost 700 feet above the south side of the city, and it is a magnificent viewpoint. The summit is occupied by an 18th Century castle. It is thought there was once a Jewish cemetery here because the name means Jewish Mountain. In 1929 Montjuic was the location of an International Fair. The hill is now a recreation area with gardens, museums, art galleries and nightclubs. It can be reached by foot, bus, railway or road train.
