The Municipal Archives are located in an 18th Century mansion. Amongst the displays are remains of a late Roman necropolis of about the 6th Century AD. The archives contain many manucripts from as far back as the 12th Century, and there are many important documents about the town`s history. These include the city`s charter granted to Alicante by Ferdindand the Catholic in 1490. There are also photo archives and old newspapers.
