The highlight of the Municipal History Museum is the huge mahogany model of Cadiz made in 1779 by an unknown artist. It depicts in fine detail all the buildings and streets of the city at that time. There is also a large mural showing the event of 1812, during the Napoleonic Wars, when a free parliament was held in Cadiz resulting in Spain`s first constitution. Amongst the many portraits in the museum is one of the Duke of Wellington.
