Inaugurated in 1995, the Museum of Contemporary Art is a white, glass fronted building designed by the American architect Richard Meier. It is now a landmark. In the galleries is a permanent collection of mainly Spanish and Catalan paintings and sculptures from the 1940s and onwards, including works by Antonio Tapies and Miro. The museum`s extensive collection is exhibited in rotation. There are also temporary exhibitions by foreign artists.
