The Museum of Contemporary Art is in a modern building constructed on the site of a prison which was demolished in the 1980s. It was designed by the architect Jose Antonio Galea and around it are gardens, trees and lakes. The collection consists of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin-American art. There are paintings, sculptures and photographs. The Latin-American collection includes works from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Cuba.
