The Museum of the History of Catalonia is housed in a converted 19th Century warehouse at the old port. Opened in 1996, it is a modern museum coverng the history of Catalonia in an entertaining way through films, displays, interactive screens and hands-on exhibits. Topics covered include the region`s prehistory, the Middle Ages, maritime history, links with the Austrian Empire, industrialization, the Civil War and the restoration of democracy. Other parts of the warehouse are now offices and restaurants.
