This museum houses what may be Europe`s finest collection of Romanesque art. There are 11th and 12th Century frecoes and wood carvings from Catalan Pyrenean churches that have been saved from decay. One of the highlights is the fresco of Mary and the Christ child from the Church of Santa Maria de Taull. There is also a large Gothic collection from the whole of Spain which includes the work of 15th Century Catalan artists. Other collections include Basque, Renaissance and 20th Century art.
