Ortigueira is known for its International Festival of Celtic Music that takes place here over several days in the month of July. The town is situated on the Ria de Ortigueira between the Cape Of Ortegal and the Punta de Estaca de Bares. The nearest beach is Morouzas Beach which is over one mile long. It is a Blue Flag beach with lifeguards and a first aid point. Good walks can be taken on the cliffs near the lighthouse on Cabo Ortegal and there are magnificent, higher cliffs further west.
