Cocentaina lies in a valley on the slopes of the Mariola Mountains. One of its most interesting buildings is Palau Comtal, a magnificent fortified palace which dates back to the 13th Century. It has recently been restored and contains examples of Baroque and Renaissance architecture. Highlights include beautiful rooms with tiled floors and Baroque ceilings. There is also a Gothic chapel with a fine retablo.
