The Parc de Joan Miro is an unusual, popular park built in the 1980s on the site of what was once a massive abattoir. On its lower level are football pitches and landscaped areas of flowers, palms and eucalyptus trees. The upper level is dominated by a seventy foot high sculpture covered with ceramics, named Woman and Bird. It is the work of Catalan artist Joan Miro and stands in the middle of a pool.
