Parque del Arenal is a pleasant park situated on land which was once marshland until drained in the 18th Century. It is popular as a place to take a short stroll and it has a bandstand where there are often performances such as folk dancing. Nearby is the 18th Century Church of San Nicholas de Bari with its Baroque facade. The bridge Puente del Arenal crosses the River Nervion from the park to the new part of the town.
