The Parque Natural de las Dunas de Corralejo is reminiscent of the Sahara Desert. This large area of sand dunes in the northeast corner of Fuerteventura Island stretches for over six miles beside the coast and over a mile inland. It has been a National Park since the late 1980s and unusual species of plants are found here. The spectacular, golden beaches are popular with kite surfers.
