The Pega-Oliva Marshlands Nature Park is a former lagoon that has silted up. It lies near the coast and it is surrounded by mountain ranges. There are two main rivers through it and islets of vegetation provide feeding and nesting sites for water birds. Many kinds of birds, including grebes, purple heron, marbled teal and the great bittern can be found here. It is also an important site for birds of passage and wintering birds. The European turtle and Caspian turle are present. There are a number of routes that can be taken into the park.
