Penaranda de Duero is a small village with a castle that was built during the reconquest when the Moors were driven south of the River Duero. In the main square are timber framed houses and the Renaissance Palace of Avellanada with its coats of arms. It has a beautiful patio with galleries. The village has a large church. Superb views can be enjoyed from the site of the castle.
