Plaza de Espana lies at the heart of the old quarter in Aviles. The square is overlooked by the two storyed 17th Century Municipal Palace, an impressive building with a clock tower and colonnaded arches. In the square are four storey mansions and the 17th Century Palacio del Marques de Ferrera with its coats of arms. The square is a favourite meeting place and events during the town`s fiestas take place here.
